Hi Susan – are you still on this site? Robert’s sister, Amelia (Mary) is my great-grandmother.

Yes I see it, thank you. And you’re right, they dates are way off. The whole thread is kinda confusing to follow…I think I would need to make a timeline and tree of all those people! I did just send an email to the staff of the Gateway to Labrador Visitor Centre in L’Anse-au-Clair and a staff member is going to forward my question to family members still in the area, so I may be able to get some information from them too.
There was a post on the thread that I also found interesting, when the writer was discussing when William Lilly left MA afterthe Battle of Lexington, a ‘United Empire Loyalist’ he called him. My 3rd great-grandfather, James Dumeresq, married Marie Louise Bonenfant. Marie’s father was Thomas Bonenfant but he was born (1758) as Thomas Goodchild in Boston, MA. He left the Colonies before or during the Revolutionary War. I am amazed by the information found in the Colonial Secretary’s Letterbook…even though not my family members it was so interesting to read. It’s amazing what is out there.
    Thanks for your help!

Hummm…the ship was going from Halifax to Carbonear so I made the jump that ‘Miss Pike’ was from Carbonear and my gggrandmother Adelaide Pike was born in/near Carbonear. I will keep digging too. Thanks for looking.

    Hi Anthony,
I don’t really have any information on the Beals except that Edward Beals married my great-grand aunt Selina Dumeresq (bn about Jan. 1951 L’ Anse au Cotard). She seems to have had 10 children, Henry (bn abt 1880).

    Hi Tom,
Ok so sounds like we have the same Adelaide Pike in common. I did not know that she remarried. I have the Philip died in 1870 so sounds likely. Do you think the ‘Miss Pike’ in the article who married Henry Lilly is our Adelaide Pike? I wish I could find a marriage record of ‘Miss Pike’ to Henry Lilly, maybe that Pike had a different fist name. I find the story if the shipwreck interesting because my father (94) tells us that his grandparents meet by a shipwreck in Labrador but the story may actually be that his great-grantparents meet that way.
Are you descended from Selina Dumeresq and Edward Beals?
