Hi I’m looking for info on the comerford family pre 1900 that came from holyrood to mall bay. There are gaps in the records I can find I have my direct ancestor Thomas Commerford b1815 and baptism for four of his children however when they moved to mall bay the records for three of those children and his wife disappeared. I’m looking for his parents and siblings and any other children he might have had. The records list his wife as Ellen Walsh and a voters list from Turks gut to the south side of holyrood shows him living on the south side of holyrood
Hi Brian Hope you’re still looking…..I believe I have an Mary Comerford in my family history….according to my grandfather, his maternal grandmother was a Mary Comerford married to a Thomas Mealy…now they were in St John’s but he did say she came from St. Mary’s Bay somewhere. I have not found a direct link to prove this yet, just his stories from when he was alive (1904-1994)

Are you sure the Comerfords came from Holyrood to Mall Bay?
I heard one time that the Comerfords came from Gray River (South Coast) to Mall Bay.
Was talking to a Comerford decendant the other week, she thought her Comerfords (Thomas) came from Admirals Beach to Mall Bay, but I believe I see where they came from Mall Bay to Admirals Beach before the 1921 census, son of John of Mall Bay.
What are the names of the 4 children of your ancestor?
Thomas Dillon I have a Margaret Comerford born around 1913 in Mall Bay her parents were Peter Comerford and Clara Hearne maybe she’s the one that was married to Thomas mealey.
Vincent Simone I’m certain they came from Holyrood and since I originally posted this I’ve found info on all of the kids except one. The 4 kids names were William Thomas John and Margaret and now I’m pretty sure there was a Johannah as well. Johannah married Richard Hanlon in mussel Pond, John was my 2nd great grandfather Thomas moved to Nova Scotia and then to Boston where he died at sea in 1912 and Margaret married Martin Morrissey from St. John’s and moved to New York after his death in 1926.
