    Hello all,
    New member, 1st post.

After a few day of searching church records I found my paternal grandmother’s birth record in Latin at Catholic St. Joseph’s parish, Salmonier. This was Rose Eleanor Linehan 16 Aug 1877.
This was a relief to find as she has at least 4 birth years on various documents.

I am now trying to find BMD records for her parents who I found in the 1921 census of John’s Pond. They are James Linehan 62 (est. 1858) and Mary Baldwin 61 (est. 1860) of Holyrood.

In the 1921 census, out of 7 children, the 2 youngest are still at home in John’s Pond: Joseph 21 (est. 1900) and Christina 15 (est. 1906)

    Now then….
In 1922 Border Crossings document in Vermont there are 3 of them: James 63 (est. 1859), Mary 49 (est. 1873), and Christina 16 (est. 1906). As with my grandmother Rose, HER mother Mary also has differentiating ages/birthdates. Mary should be be a year older, 62, not 49. I have to assume this in an error, not a different Mary. Their destination is Dorchester Massachusetts which is correct.

Then in the 1930 U.S. census, Christine now 23 (est. 1907) is married to Cyril Banfield 28 (est. 1902) which looks right (I like that name Cyril). Mary Linehan (Mary Baldwin) is living with them and is identified as widowed and “mother in law” to Cyril but her age is listed as 61 as is was in the 1921 census. Mary should be 70, i.e. 9 years older in 1930 than in 1921.

James should be in some US death document between 1922 and 1930 as he entered the U.S. in 1922 with wife Mary and daughter Christina and in 1930 Mary is a widow. But I can’t find any.

And I can’t find birth and marriage documents for James and Mary in Newfoundland either.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Patrick
