I’m trying to trace my GG Grandfather Edward Foley Born 1783 in Waterford Ireland. At the age of 3 he immigrated to eastern Canada with his parents. So the story goes both parents died on ship and a Priest took care of Edward. They may have landed in NFLD. Edward eventually moved to PEI and married Margaret Catherine lane of NFLD. Did he land.in NFLD , Halifax or PEI .Any info is very welcome .

Hello Margaret. I have nothing to offer at this point but I am now investigating FOLEY families of Placentia Bay and St. Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland with particular focus on the family of my paternal Great-Grandmother Alice FOLEY of St. Bride’s (Placentia Bay). It is my understanding that this FOLEY line will lead me to Co. Wexford Ireland but it is entirely possible that your GG Grandfather Edward FOLEY will intersect somewhere in this research … so I’ll let you know if that happens. In the meantime get back to me on how you know (i.e., What source are you referring to?, etc.) that Edward FOLEY was born in Co. Waterford. Regards, Paul James White

I’m sorry for taking so long to reply in regards to my GG Grandfather Edward Foley . The only source of my information is what I’ve heard through conversations or what someone posted on Ancestry . There is no source with a legit attachment. There is a marriage that is noted in the Catholic records re: Edward Foley married Margaret Catherine Lane in 1813, St.John”s . The problem is where did he land on arrival and how did he travel to PEI if indeed this is my GG Grandparents. I’m open to any info that you may find. I hope you are successful in your research. Thank you . Sincerely Margaret Foley
