    Have you tried ngb.chebucto.org?

Hi Barry I am interested in my British heritage both Bond and Thornhill. I also have information on Rideouts in NL. Many originated in Pass Island, Fortune Bay NL area. I have Rideout in my tree somewhere most likely tied to Bonds either Frenchmans Cove or Garnish in NL. The earliest I know of Rideout was James married to Sarah of Pass Island early 1800 circa. Try this free NL Geology site http://ngb.chebucto.org/. NL doesn’t seem to have much in records prior to mid 1800 era due to fire destruction but there is more information in public archieves. Would appreciate any help to trace Somerset area. There is record of Samuel Rideout married to Sarah Bond (Frenchman’s Cove) Other Rideouts moved to NOva Scotia and Glouchester, Mass, US. Sarah Bond was most likely daughter of John or Abraham Bond of FC and my own Grandfather ancestry. Suffice to say Rideout/Bond/Thornhill history cannot be traced earlier than 1800 era on this end. Good luck with the hunt.
