Looking for birthplace of my ggrandfather Gideon Way born about 1847, later of Musgravetown & Goose Bay, and, a confirmation that same Gideon may be son of William Parsons Way born 1803 Harbour Grace. William Parsons Way had a daughter Mary Ann Way in several sources. Harbour Grace Standard Newspaper in February 19, 1887 identifies: “Mary Ann Way’s St Johns funeral in 1887 was attended by her brother Gideon Way.” That indicates a name match, but does not confirm that same Gideon was son of William Parsons Way. Help?

I am doing some research on the Parsons from Newfoundland. My ancestor’s name is Henry Parsons (1806 or 1810, to 1871). He was born in St. John’s.
His father was Jonathan Parsons (1777-1831), originally of Harbour Grace.
And his mother was (Mary) Charlotte Butler (1787-1838). Henry immigrated to the United States, and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In particular, I’m trying to find out if this Henry Parsons is the same man who first married Harriet Bearns in Nfld, only to later divorce her in the US and then marry Mary Swan Tunison. Henry and Mary had a son named Henry (1858-1943). I’m trying to find out about Henry Sr.’s parents — if indeed they are Jonathan and Charlotte. Do you think there’s a connection here with your Parsons’ line? Thanks for any info you may have!Tim
