I am researching my wife’s family, with several branches in Newfoundland. Her great grandmother is Mary Genevieve Sheppard, who on the 1921 Newfoundland census was living with another family named Gorman in Harbour Breton, listed as ‘adopted’, and born in Miller’s Passage in 1903. You can see record I’m talking about here, household 51:

I spoke with my wife’s great aunt Beatrice Augot (b. ~1930 in Harbour Breton), who remembers traveling from Harbour Breton to Miller’s Passage by boat to visit her mother’s family when she was 6 years old in about 1936. Unfortunately there are no surviving family records and she remembers little else. The 1921 and 1935 censuses both list several families of Sheppards in Miller’s Passage, but I have no way of knowing who was related to Genevieve and how. I stumbled across this site today and took a shot in the dark and registered, hoping to find some information, or someone who could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance!
