Hello, I am looking for any assistance, if any is available, about my families – mostly from he St. John’s area.
DILLON – my grandfather was Matthew Jospeh Dillon (1904-1994) married Elizabeth Coady (parents were John Coady (from Outer Cove / Torbay and worked at Government House for years, and apparently was a seventh son of a seventh son and had Irish language prayers and blessings – according to family legend. He died 1963 in town) and Elizabeth Burress-she was from Heart’s Content area).

Matthew’s parents were Matthew Dillon (died aboard ship after leaving port to go to the seal hunt in March 1904 before birth of my grandfather, had two prior kids Mary and Thomas) and Bridget Mealey (died 1915 in St. John’s – no idea where she was from and have no idea). Matthew and Bridget were married in 1899 at St. in Patrick’s town.

If anyone has any information I would be most grateful.
