ParticipantHello – I have limited information on an Anthony family originating from Spaniard’s Bay. It starts with Robert Henry Anthony (b. unknown – died 1894) md Bridget Dower. They were said to have 14 or 15 children. The tree I have is not one that I researched myself but one that was pass along as I had information on one of Robert’s and Bridget’s descendants, namely Robert(Abt. 1851 – Spaniard’s Bay). Robert married (1)Bridget Reynolds and then (2) Rebecca Traverse. By Robert’s first marriage to Bridget they had a son, Moses Anthony (bc 1876, Harbour Grace – died 1935, Grand Falls). They had a number of other children but I mention Moses as it the name you are searching. I have other information on Robert (b. 1851 – d. 1921, Lewisporte, NL) and Bridget’s descendants. The only other child of Robert Henry and Bridget Dower that was mention in this tree is William George (b. 22 Sep 1865, Newfoundland) and died in Brownfield, Maine on 26 Feb 1935 and was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery. I’m posting this as there seems to be a connection between the Anthony family, Spaniard’s Bay and descendants named Moses. If I can be of assistance, please let me know.

ParticipantHello – Patricia – we may have met online before but I have lots of information on the Dobbin of NL and I’m quite willing to share. What names do you have in your branch?

ParticipantAs a matter of interest, there has been Rideouts in the Whales Gulch and Twillingate areas of Newfoundland since at least the early 1800s or earlier. One Newfoundland genealogy site that has a to baptisms from the early 1800s is the following: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cannf/spg.htm
