Genealogical DNA Testing:

FHSNL has partnered with FamilyTreeDNA, which specialises in genealogical DNA testing. FamilyTreeDNA offers several types of DNA tests, including its autosomal “Family Finder” test that identifies relatives through a combination of maternal and paternal lines.

For direct paternal line testing (which involves testing a man’s DNA), you can also search for a corresponding surname-based DNA project among the many Projects at FamilyTreeDNA.

For direct maternal line testing, there is a Newfoundland and Labrador mtDNA Project that you can join if your direct maternal ancestral line involves Newfoundland and Labrador.
