Is there anyone who can put me in touch with the details of a St. John’s old family, Edward Patrick Morris (b. 8/5/1859 – d.24/10/1935) and wife, Catherine Fitzgerald and their ancestory.
I would like to know the names of his brothers and whether one named, John disappeared, as a young teenager never to return.
Oral history of my great grandfather, John Morris, states he ran away from home, joined a whaler sailing for Sydney Cove as a young cabin boy but jumped ship when she berthed. An illegal immigrant! There is still a family member alive who remembers his late mother talking about her husbands life and family back in St. John’s Newfound. He and his wife, Eliza Burling are buried in the bleak Tenterfield cemetry under a large headstone.
Please contact me if you can shed any light on the above. Thank you.

I did research on this family about 1-2 years ago because of Patrick Morris relation to Luke Maddocks from Waterford area. My last name is Maddox and have reason to believe there is a lot of info on this family. Howleys, Shea family, Doyle etc. See PDF file attached I tried to attach but wouldn’t let me. Search on goole etc for Howley Family Papers.
