Hello from Ottawa, Canada – My grandmother was Isabella Gilliam whose father Thomas was the son of Ann Harvey and Charles Gillam (or Gilliam) seen both ways throughout Newfoundland. I have been “working” on my family tree for several years and although I positively know Ann Harvey Gilliam to be my ancestor, I would not be sure of all of her siblings. I will check and see if I can now locate reference to a William. There is wonderful history about Ann Harvey and her father, which I can relay to you if you feel this is indeed any interest to you. We have a Coast Guard “Ice Cutter” ship in Newfoundland, called “the Ann(e) Harvey, named after this Ann. There are also many articles which I have located relaying heroic actions on her part in shipwrecks; also a children’s book written about her; and indeed discussions about a movie being produced, whether this will come to fruitation, I am not so sure. Of course, I have first hand knowledge from my own grandmother (whom I knew well – she died at the good age of over 90 -(I need to look up the exact age). my e-mail is jjybby@sympatico.ca. Sincerely Barbara Hutchings Young (my grandmother Isabella Gilliam married Alfred James Hutchings (another prominent Newfoundland name) so it is from my father’s line that I relate to the Harvey-Gilliam family. An old spelling by the way, was Guilliume.
