We are helping a friend find his NFLD ancestors. His G-Grandparents were Susannah Costello (1834-1897) and Michael Keane (1836-1892) of St. John’s. Records show there are many spellings of the Keane name; Kane, Keen, Cain, Cains, Caines.

They had 4 children:

David (1858-bef 1921) who married Elizabeth Wall who had 4 children
Elizabeth (1861-1928) who married William Lilley (a blacksmith) in St John’s, Oct 11 1883
Margaret (1864-unknown) no marriage found
UNKNOWN son (b/d unknown, but alive in 1897 as he is referred to in his mothers obit)

Our friend descends from Elizabeth (Keane) Lilley. Spelling variations; Lillie, Lilly. They had 4 children with the 2 eldest children (William Jr and Harvey) being born in Harbour Grace, and the 2 youngest (George and Rose) born in Ontario.
